ABOUT US
Aaron and Eva Kunkle, childhood sweethearts with deep roots in the building trades, embarked on an extraordinary journey to transform a nearly 150-year-old schoolhouse into a vibrant home for their family of seven. In 2013, they purchased the former Green Valley schoolhouse near Graton, California, which had previously served various purposes, including a polling location and a training center for the Graton Fire Department.
Undeterred by its dilapidated condition, the Kunkles envisioned a space that would nurture their five sons through their formative years. Aaron, Eva, and their sons, then aged between 7 and 12, immersed themselves in the renovation process, embodying resilience and creativity. The project not only revitalized the historic structure but also fostered a deep connection to the community, as neighbors and former students of the schoolhouse frequently visited to witness the transformation.
Today, the Kunkle family's home stands as a testament to their dedication and vision, blending historical preservation with family-centered design. Their story exemplifies the power of community, the importance of heritage, and the enduring strength of family bonds.
